This mine would clear over 64has
(disputed 163has) of White Box, Yellow Box, Blakely's
Redgum Grassy Woodlands.
Two
existing coal mines operating open cuts already
impact on Box Woodlands on
the valley floor
(Wilpinjong Coal Mine -
47ha).
Clearing for power lines also impact on mature Box Woodland
vegetation
(Ulan-Wollar Transgrid - 57ha).
Box woodland habitat is limited in distribution
to the valley floor and supports a range of threatened
and endangered woodland birds and mammals including endangered
honey eaters, owls, bats and the squirrel glider possum.
